Glass-fibre reinforced vinyl ester (GRVE) piping systems are used for end users operating in the Marine and (Petro)chemical markets. GRVE is often used for utility systems such as cooling and fire-fighting water systems where the requirements for reliability and corrosion resistance are high.
Both salt water systems and corrosive liquids are suitable as mediums for GRVE as well as most acids and bases. There is a limited chemical resistance against hydrocarbons.
The most frequently used vinyl ester resins are DER411, DER470, ATLAC580, ATLAC590 and ATLAC E-NOVA 2045.
Different joining technologies are available, namely, bonded connections, (un-)restrained O-ring connections and laminated connections.
